Wilder Construction
A DRUG FREE Workplace

DRUG FREE WORKPLACE POLICY

Wilder Construction Company is committed to providing a safe and productive work environment.  Freedom from the effects of alcohol, controlled drugs, and other performance impairing substances is an integral part of a safe workplace.  The unlawful or improper use of drugs and alcohol by an employee dramatically increases the risk of accidents and injuries.  Further, it impairs the effectiveness and performance of the individual, the crew and the Company.

  • The use, sale, transfer or possession of any controlled substance on Company premises, in Company vehicles or while conducting Company business off Company premises is prohibited.

  • Reporting for work, working or engaging in any activity on the Company’s behalf with a controlled substance in your system is prohibited.

  • Reporting to perform or performing work duties with an alcohol concentration of .04 or greater is prohibited.  The use or possession of alcohol while on Company business, or four hours prior to work is prohibited.

  • Each employee must report to his or her immediate supervisor the use of any prescription or over-the-counter medication which may inhibit the employee’s ability to safely and effectively perform job duties.  It is the employee’s responsibility to determine whether any prescribed drug or other medication may impair job performance.  Employees are also required to provide a medical authorization to work, upon request.

All persons are required, as a condition of employment, to consent to six types of testing:  preemployment and re-hire, random, reasonable cause, post accident, return to duty, and follow-up.  Employees working on job sites where customer requirements for drug screening are more stringent than Wilder Construction Company standards may be tested in accordance with customer requirements.  All employees are required to report in writing any convictions involving the use, sale, possession, or distribution of drugs or alcohol to their division manager within five (5) days of conviction.

Any violation of this Policy or the Drug Free Workplace Program, as well as any refusal to complete, without alteration, a test consent form or to submit to a drug test required by the Company in accordance with this policy may result in discipline up to and including immediate termination.

Note:  The Wilder Construction Company Drug Free Workplace Program provides guidelines and procedures for implementing this Policy in the workplace.
